Determining the Therapeutic Position of an OA

Dr. Sheats will summarize recommendations of an AADSM task force to identify the therapeutic position of an oral appliance to manage sleep-disordered breathing.
Objectives
Upon completion of the webinar, participants will be able to:
- Describe the process the task force used to develop recommendations to determine the therapeutic position of an oral appliance;
- List the strategies that clinicians may find useful in identifying the therapeutic position of an oral appliance; and
- Explain the reasons that some strategies were not deemed effective in determining the therapeutic position of an oral appliance
Rose Sheats, DMD, MPH, is a board-certified orthodontist with a Masters in Public Health. She retired in 2013 from her full-time academic position as the Graduate Orthodontic Program Director at the University of North Carolina. She served several terms as a member of the AADSM Board of Directors and continues to promote the practice of dental sleep medicine through leadership positions and educational activities at the AADSM. Dr. Sheats is a passionate advocate for the practice of evidence-based DSM and is an Associate Editor of the Journal of Dental Sleep Medicine. |
